OUR STORY

Nobu was founded by owner and director James Murphy. James has over 15 years of experience in the construction industry, working his way up from cheeky apprentice, to lead carpenter on some fabulous projects and now a fully accredited Builder. He may be biased, although James strongly believes that carpenters make the best builders.

In James’ own words….

‘I am passionate about helping the building industry develop its reputation. The media often lumps smaller builders into the same category as volume builders which really could not be further from the truth. I am passionate about leaving behind homes not only I, but the team can be super proud of. I want to build houses that will be standing in 100 years that people are mesmerised by.  I want to continue growing this business and leading us towards building more sustainable and healthy homes.’

James has a passion for building, one which we he begun his apprenticeship at 16 wasn’t immediately realised. It wasn’t until he was a couple of years out of his time that James really found building was something he wanted to continue with. Suffering from a severe case of OCD James realised his desire to carry out work to an impeccable standard and having a ‘near enough is not good enough’ attitude certainly carried through to his work. James is determined to deliver his client’s a project they can be proud to show their friends and family through. At home James has small family he adores and can often be caught with his Kelpie ‘Maggie’ by his side.

Luca started with Nobu Constructions back in 2021, from the very beginning he was leaving people in awe of his natural ability on the tools. Coming from a family of tradesman he immediately picked up a lot of the skills to make it in the industry. An incredibly mature 22-year-old, Luca is a true asset to the team and has great communication skills which help keep our trades and clients informed of the project’s happenings.
