We build spaces specific to you — thoughtful, functional and built to last. At Nobu Constructions, we believe a home should do more than just look good. It should reflect who you are, support the way you live, and keep performing for generations to come.

OUR  STORY

Nobu Constructions was founded by James Murphy, a carpenter-turned-builder with over 15 years of hands-on experience. From his early apprenticeship to leading complex builds, James developed a simple ethos: near enough is never good enough.

The name “Nobu” means trust in Japanese — and trust is the foundation of everything we do. From the materials we select to the relationships we build, it’s the value that guides us every step of the way.

OUR  APPROACH

We keep things simple

Thoughtful – We listen first, making sure every design detail reflects your lifestyle.

Functional – Homes should flow beautifully and work effortlessly.

Built to Last – With quality craftsmanship and durable materials, we focus on building homes that stand the test of time.

Where possible, we aim to use sustainable and healthier material choices, balancing modern performance standards with long-term liveability.

By getting involved early in the design process, we work alongside clients and architects to balance vision with practicality, ensuring every project is delivered with precision and care.

OUR  PROMISE

We’re not volume builders. We’re craftspeople. Our goal is to create homes that your family will love today — and that future generations will admire 100 years from now because when you build with Nobu, you’re not just building a house. You’re building a legacy.

Director and Registered Builder

| James Murphy

James has a passion for building, one which we he begun his apprenticeship at 16 wasn’t immediately realised. It wasn’t until he was a couple of years out of his time that James really found building was something he wanted to continue with. Suffering from a severe case of OCD James realised his desire to carry out work to an impeccable standard and having a ‘near enough is not good enough’ attitude certainly carried through to his work. James is determined to deliver his client’s a project they can be proud to show their friends and family through. At home James has small family he adores and can often be caught with his Kelpie ‘Maggie’ by his side.

Site Supervisor | Maggie Murphy

You will catch Maggie on site, keeping an watchful eye on everything, especially lunchtime crumbs. At the ripe age of 3, she has been assisting James and Luca for 2.5 years now and has a brilliant eye for detail. As a valued member of the team, her main duties include sleeping on the job and getting as many pats as possible.

Carpenter | Luca Tully

Luca started with Nobu Constructions back in 2021, from the very beginning he was leaving people in awe of his natural ability on the tools. Coming from a family of tradesman he immediately picked up a lot of the skills to make it in the industry. An incredibly mature 22-year-old, Luca is a true asset to the team and has great communication skills which help keep our trades and clients informed of the project’s happenings.
